What it is, and why it works.
The European fan, also called Versailles or arc pattern, is one of the most recognizable paving designs in the world. Repeating semicircular fans of small stones overlap in a rhythm that makes large areas feel crafted rather than poured. It is especially striking on driveways, motor courts and plazas.
Fans are a layout pattern, so planning matters. We establish the center line and radius on site, orient the arcs toward the focal point and adjust so edges finish cleanly at curbs and borders. We choose softer, earthy colors that give the arcs an aged feel, a perfect match for many Nashville-area historic and transitional homes.
