Exposed Aggregate Concrete
Concrete with the top layer of cement washed away to reveal natural stone or pebbles: textured, slip-resistant and incredibly durable.
- Aggregate: River rock, granite, quartz
- Typical time: 3 to 6 working days
- Traction: High
What it is, and why it works.
Exposed aggregate is concrete that shows its stone. A surface retarder is applied or the top cream is washed away at the right moment so the pebbles or crushed stone beneath are revealed. The result is a textured, natural look that hides dirt, grips well and wears for decades.
It is a favorite for driveways, pool decks and walkways. We select aggregate to suit your landscape, from warm river rock to gray granite, and seal the surface to deepen color and reduce staining. Nashville homeowners like it for its natural, slip-resistant surface around pools and on sloped drives.

Slip resistant

Exposed Aggregate: common questions
Can exposed aggregate be sealed?
Yes, and it should be. Sealing deepens the stone color and makes the surface easier to clean.
Will pebbles come loose?
With correct mixes and timing the aggregate is bonded in. A good sealer helps lock it in.
